Corporate responsibility under the United Nations Global Compact

UN global compact

From December 18 of 2014, our company has received confirmation of our membership in the world’s largest initiative on corporate responsibility – UN’s Global Compact, with more than 8,000 companies joining from 163 different countries, including 185 companies from Ukraine. We became part of an active global network, oriented towards practical actions and offers a broad spectrum of various possibilities for active participation – from constructive dialogue on the critically important issues of educational events, to formation of partnerships in order to achieve sustainable development and economic prosperity.
Global Compact is a global initiative for corporate responsibility, built on 10 key principles divided into 4 directions:

  • Human rights
  • Labor relations
  • Environmental protection
  • Anti-corruption

Ten principles of the Global Agreement

Principle 1. Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights.

Principle 2. Businesses should make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

Principle 3. Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.

Principle 4. Businesses should uphold the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labor.

Principle 5. Businesses should uphold the effective abolition of child labor.

Principle 6. Businesses should uphold the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

Principle 7. Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges.

Principle 8. Businesses should undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility.

Principle 9. Businesses should encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

Principle 10. Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

To us, the Global Agreement means:
  • Voluntary initiative to contribute towards sustainable development and insuring a responsible civil position of companies and corporations
  • Set of values based on globally recognized principles
  • Network of companies and other interested parties
  • Forum for learning and exchange of experience

Signing the Global Agreement means taking the most public form of responsibility to uphold the ten universally proclaimed principles of this initiative.

By signing the agreement, Impel Griffin takes on the following responsibilities:
  • To initiate changes in the business that would make the Global Agreement and its principles an intrinsic part of the management strategy
  • Will publish the results of the efforts and achievements of the company with regards to the 10 principles in the yearly reports or similar public reports
  • Will publically support the Global Agreement and its principles, using communication methods such as press releases, speeches, etc.
